Three Things You Need To Know About Audio Guide Security

Have you ever been concerned about your audio guides being lost or forgotten about? People typically don’t mean to leave your facility with an audio guide – in most cases, they simply forget to return it.

We know this is a concern for many of our customers. That’s why our infrared audio guides include alarm system features – built into every audio guide. The alarm feature is a preventative solution to help ensure your audio guides stay on-site.

1. To trigger an alarm, you need an alarm loop controller.

Our Alarm Loop Controllers have features that you can use to “trigger” your audio guides in different ways.

The most common way to use the Alarm Loop Controller “as an alarm”. An Alarm Loop Controller is perfect for placing a discreet wire around a door or entranceway to prevent loss.

Audio Guide’s that pass through a door with a “looped wire” will beep constantly (one of two alarm sound presets are available) as an auditory warning to a visitor and to staff. The audio guide will then immediately enter a “Locked” state. What this means is – the audio guide will not work. The audio guide will stop functioning completely until returned to its charger station.

2. Security is a good way to think of these devices, but you should also be thinking of this as a way to protect your guests.

The Alarm Loop Controller comes with options to make the audio guide beep in two different ways. If a room is under renovation, or if there are off-limits areas that can be hazardous to your visitors, triggering the alarm on an audio guide will give visitors an auditory warning before they are in danger.

3. The Alarm Loop Controller can also be used to turn all devices within a triggering range “on” or “off”.

If you have a large number of audio guides for an incoming tour group, you can turn on all audio guides as the group passes through an entrance way. When that group returns, all of the Audio Guides can be turned off at the same time. This saves your staff the time of turning off several devices individually.

Alarm system technologies can help you serve your visitors better by making your tour a more fluid experience.
