With Blue Boat Company's recent media launch for their new multilingual commentary, there was a lot of excitement by both the tourism industry and new visitors to Amsterdam. This is because Blue Boat Company wanted to create fun and entertaining tours that offered intimate and personal experiences for their visitors. They also wanted to tell stories that many Amsterdamers wouldn't necessarily know themselves. 

Since other sightseeing companies provide visitors with typical point of interest based factoids - this was a great opportunity for Blue Boat Company to provide immersive passenger experiences. 

Meet Ron & Nel! 

Creating a guided GPS tour led by Ron and Nell was a wonderful concept that resulted from the strong collaboration of the Blue Boat team who know Amsterdam so well. 

Working seamlessly with our writing and production team, the “Ron and Nel” tour was created, an experience that takes Blue Boat guests on a journey along the canals with two old time Amsterdamers. 

Born and bread in Amsterdam, these two characters guide passengers through "their" Amsterdam. Visitors learn about the history of the city and the unique way it has developed over the years to its current form. But they also share in a personal experience, as Ron and Nel share their funny and intimate stories of Amsterdam with all who visit. Since Ron and Nel have lived in Amsterdam for over 60 years, it provided us with the opportunity to uncover little known stories as told through their life experiences in the city. The resulting tours provide passengers with cinematic themed experiences, where stories unfold in a natural dialogue between the characters.    

What's equally important is Blue Boat Companies vision for their brand experience. They knew they wanted to be different from everyone else. They achieved this by creating experiences on and off the boats. One great example of this is how Blue Boat is offering a glimpse into Ron and Nel's private lives on FaceBook: facebook.com/ronennel

While this experience has just launched, it offers a compelling marketing and communications platform that includes Ron and Nel in social media, in print and on the Web, where these two characters share their lives with travelers prior to their arrival in Amsterdam and after they've left. 

The cruise departs every 30 minutes from the docks of Blue Boat Company opposite the Park Hotel. During the cruise, Ron & Nel share their city and their stories via our multilingual audio system.
