This week we’re looking at our highly versatile tour guide system – which also acts as a body-worn multilingual live commentary system for guides. The ieXplore tour guide system is being used in a multitude of venues. Guided walking tours, conferences, conventions, industrial and factory tours, employee training, as well as bus, boat, and train tours, have all played host to ieXplore.
The transmitter will ensure your driver’s, interpreter’s or tour guide’s voice will be clearly heard by everyone in their group, up to 100 feet away. The system is wireless, so there are no cords to trip over, and no clumsy microphone to carry. You can convey your live message through the transmitter by its built-in microphone, or easily add a head-worn boom microphone, or lapel style microphone.
The system supports multiple channels and Guides - up to 8 guides can be speaking at the same time on their own transmitters set to different channels. This creates excellent personalized communication with your tour groups.
Language selection for multilingual wireless audio tours is easily chosen by a thumbwheel dial. Just put on a headset, (included) and dial up your desired language. The user can select from any of 16 different channels . You can deliver an enriching, exciting auditory visitor experience for a full day without having to recharge transmitters or receivers. Listening accessories for the hearing impaired are compatible with T-Switch hearing aids. We provide induction loop hearing-aid technologies for ADA Compliance.
Uncomplicated, easy to use controls consist of a channel / language thumbwheel dial, and a volume knob. A green L.E.D. indicators show the signal is being received, and a red L.E.D warns of low battery charge. The ieXplore receiver delivers high quality audio commentary for 10 hours with rechargeable batteries, which recharge in about 5 hours. Two different styles of gravity fed chargers / storing units can charge 12 or 36 receivers simultaneously.
A stainless steel spring-clip allows the receiver to be securely worn on a belt or in a pocket. Lanyards are also used. The device is molded from high impact materials ensuring many years of rigorous daily use. The receiver is a strong, slender package weighing only 100 grams (3.5 oz) including batteries. Dimensions for both the transmitter or receiver are: 98mm (3.8 in) Height, 66mm (2.6 in) Width, 27mm (1.0 in) Depth.
The ieXplore system is also being used in several factories for plant tours using both live and pre-recorded commentary at pre-determined tour stops. This is because the body-worn transmitter has two inputs – a microphone input and Auxiliary input for additional devices such as mp3 players, audio guides and iPods. Many of our customers opt to use audio guides to play pre-recorded commentary during their factory tours. The advantage of providing pre-recorded commentary to factory visitors is the information is professional and consistent. With some of our factory tours – information is both technical and specific. It would be challenging for a guide to deliver this information consistently. So guides provide live commentary using a microphone between tour stops and the actual stations or stops on the tour are pre-recorded – delivered to the group using the same tour guide system.
Here is a recent testimonial we received from Standard Process, where visitors receive an in-depth tour of their manufacturing facility:
“Our new AudioConexus system is working out great for customer tours. Our tour guides and tour helpers have high praise for the new system and its ease of use.
Our administrative assistant loves it, too, because it’s much easier for her to get everything ready for our tours. Before we purchased the AudioConexus system she had to charge the MP3 players we were using one by one. This system is a huge timesaver for her.
Most important, our guests are having a much easier time keeping up with our pre-recorded audio because they don’t have to fiddle with their own MP3 player to try to find each track by themselves like they used to have to do. Now, the tour guide can control the content for them. We’re finding that our guests can also pay more attention to the processes shown on the tour rather than having to try to figure out how to keep up with the MP3s we used before.
We’ve also found that the people in the back of each tour group don’t have to worry about missing something that the tour guide says because the tour guide is now speaking to them through microphones that project everything so well, even when there’s some background noise from our manufacturing process. The microphones are beneficial for repeating questions asked, too, because the entire group can hear the repeated question and the answer without any shouting needed.

These systems can automatically deliver your pre-recorded commentary at specific points of interest on your tour. Another benefit of using the ieXplore in conjunction with our GPS commentary system is the extended tour range, as well as options to increase the transmission range for larger vessels with multiple passenger decks.
