The U.S. Department of Commerce recently announced that 4.9 million international visitors traveled to the United States in November 2011, an eight percent increase over November 2010. For the first 11 months of 2011, visitation (57.6 million) was up five percent compared to the same period in 2010.

Overseas Resident Visitation

  • In November 2011, overseas resident visitation (2.0 million) was up five percent over November 2010.
  • November YTD 2011, overseas resident visits (25.5 million) were up six percent compared to the same period of 2010.
  • In November 2011, increases were registered in six of the nine overseas regions.
  • November YTD 2011, increases were registered in seven overseas regions.

North American Resident Visitation

  • In November 2011, non-resident visits from Canada (1.5 million) were up one percent and visits from Mexico (1.4 million) were up 21 percent.
  • November YTD 2011, non-resident visits from Canada (19.7 million) increased six percent while visits from Mexico (12.3 million) grew two percent for the year.
